Using the ROOT of a Word to Get Alternate Endings
When searching by SUBJECT, TITLE, or AUTHOR, you can search on root words (truncate) to retrieve words with alternate endings.
Author example: solz retrieves Solz, Solze, Solzhenitsyn, etc.
Subject example: snow retrieves Snow, Snow bunting, Snowboarding, Snowden, Snowy owl, etc.
This database searches on truncated terms automatically, except in a WORDS search or in a LIMIT option.
To truncate in a WORDS search or in a LIMIT option, use *
For example: garden* retrieves words in which "garden" is a root (garden, gardener, gardening, gardens, etc.).
If you have question, ask library staff for assistance.
